Canadians take the lead at the 2009 Soling World Championship.
Under a great breeze starting from northwest and then north and blowing in between 16 and 19 knots with some gusts reaching the 25, the local teams showed their knowledge.

www.milestonelife.com / Gull team CAN 230 with Fogh, Cheer and Devries took a bullet in the first race and then a third in the second one of the day bringing them into first overall with 12 pts, but CAN 225 with Hall, Kerrigan and Flinn slowly made their moves finishing second in the first race and winning the second race jumping into the second place overall with 13 pts. It was just not the day for the team Marinepool GER 300 with Koch, Koch, Bornemann who 10 min before the first race, broke the main halyard and despite all attempts, dropping the mast in the chopy seas, had anyway to come into shore, provisory fix the one and go back for the second race where they finished second and kept the third overall with 15 pts.

In the back of the fleet many situations with broaches, Chinese jibes and other problems, made the race fun for watching. And inshore back from racing different beer types were waiting for the sailors who gathered at the mooring area and enjoyed the sun and chilly air.

Only 5pts of difference in between the 5th and the 1st at the event, three countries and three continents fighting for the 2009 Soling World trophy, Canada with the best chances at the moment with 1st, 2nd, 5th
On Saturday light winds are forecasted and two races are scheduled starting at 1100. After races on Saturday includes the members meetings that will be previously to the Dinner offered by the YC.
